Our Story

Katherine Woodward began her riding journey at a young age and continued to ride throughout her time at Colorado State University. After many years as a barn manager and trainer for large operations, including Rio Vista Farm and Lone Star Stables, Katherine founded Corazón to create a program where riders could pursue a high level of riding and showing in a more intimate, personalized environment.

Throughout her career, Katherine has guided riders from their first crossrails through the levels, with many riders achieving year-end awards along the way. Her program is built around a balanced combination of classically correct flatwork, technically challenging exercises, and thoughtful coursework designed to prepare both horse and rider for the questions they will face in the show ring.

Katherine has an interactive and engaging teaching style. She encourages her riders to think critically, ask questions, and apply the knowledge and skill sets they have developed rather than simply following instructions. With a strong eye for detail, she enjoys passing that knowledge along to her students, emphasizing not only the development of talented riders, but of thoughtful, capable horsemen who never stop learning.

Conditioning and fitness are also priorities within the program, as Katherine believes that a fit, well-prepared horse is essential to performing at a high level. She is fortunate to have an exceptional facility that allows her to pursue these goals. Katherine also has a passion for developing young horses, especially the hunters and Thoroughbreds.

Katherine is actively involved with the Central Texas Hunter & Jumper Association, serving on its Board of Directors and currently holding the position of President.
